Olive oil and coronary artery disease

As we know new dietary guidelines recommend limiting polyunsaturated oil to no more than 10%, while 10 to 15% of daily caloric intake can come from monounsaturated fats. Olive oil is the best source of monounsaturated fats in the Mediterranean diet and several studied have proved that this kind of fat improves cholesterol levels by decreasing the LDL-cholesterol (the bad one), while maintaining the HDL-cholesterol (the good one). Furthermore olive oil is linked to other important concerns:

q       Can help to lower blood pressure

q       Can improve overall blood sugar levels in diabetics, who are at increased risk of heart disease

By some natural antioxidants seem to fight against free radicals
